Mac mini OSX updated to High Sierra and Remote problem

So plex turns on fine.
But the up down direction buttons on my remote do nothing on Plex Media Server.
Anyone else having this problem after updating their Mac OSX to high Sierra?
It was working fine all this time on th previous OS X.

quaan, i have the same problem on a mac mini 2014 :frowning:

Cool awaiting solutions, in the meantime timeclock it back before high Sierra.

I have the same issue on a Mac mini 2012. Everything was working great before the High Sierra but now the up/down commands are not recognized. The left/right/menu/select commands work fine.

Same problem here on Mac mini 2010 and iMac 2011.
Kodi had same problem but it was resolved by a newer version.

Kindly keep this forum running and please post a solution if possible. Thank you

I am having the same problem as well. just the apple remote. No up and down function.

Same problem for me. Super weird and annoying. Anyone have a fix?

It seems that High Sierra remapped the remote (is it apple remote?) so that up/down control the volume, maybe you can solve this by redefining an inputmap https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/216459997-Create-your-own-inputmap

Seeing the same problem here with OpenPHT and a Logitech Harmony remote.

It’d be great to see a default keymap file for the Harmony so I can play around to try to fix up/down/back buttons without losing the rest of the functions which are still working.

Does anyone try to create a fixed keymap for AppleRemote? I try using the link https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/216459997-Create-your-own-inputmap but not solve the problem.

I have the same problem late 2014 Mac Mini, I have tried some remapping to no avail, it appears to be a core OS problem because it does not appear that this issue is limited to Plex. Other apps do not respond to the up and down inputs from the apple remote.

I’m having the same issue. I’ve tried Apple’s own remote, and it responds the same way (up/down doesn’t work).

My temporary fix for this (I’m hoping it gets fixed with a macOS or Plex update) has been to install Remote Buddy on my Mac Mini. The remote behaves as normal now.

I couldn’t get Remote Buddy working properly. In fact, things seem worse. I can’t start OpenPHT with the Menu button, and now no buttons work at all when in Plex.

Same issue with Apple Remote - up/down not working - after OSX High Sierra upgrade. Installed Remote Buddy and now it works.

PS. I see Kodi brought out a fix for their users.

Same issue here.

I’m in the same boat. Neither my Apple remote or my Harmony will go up or down. Can anyone else confirm that Remote Buddy fixes the issue? Its $35CAD.
