If you’re doing the above, you better put the same album title into the embedded “Album” metatag as you are using inside Plex.
@OttoKerner so it looks like your suggestion for the folder structure and enabling Prefer Local Metadata made a huge difference. It’s certainly not perfect, but it’s close.
Sometimes it will still attribute an album to the wrong artist even though the Artist “folder name” is correct and the Album Artist metadata is correct. So that’s annoying, but mostly fixable.
I am still seeing an issue in some of those cases where if I try to manually set the Album Artist in Plex I’m getting really odd behavior. I’m sure there is a bug there somewhere, or at least room for an improvement of locking the Album Artist field.
I’ve also absolutely lost all of my artist and album art customizations, which is going to be a pain to go through and clean everything up… but the artist list being fixed is huge.
Thanks for the help. Hopefully an internal bug gets filed about Album Artist not being appropriately editable.
