Server Version#: The Latest - otherwise take a hike.
Player Version#: The Latest - tell us if we ask.
If providing [server logs](https://support.plex.tv/articles/200250417-plex-media-server-log-files/) TURN OFF VERBOSE - TURN ON DEBUG - and wait until asked. No Snippets. Period.

TV Shows AND Movies - Pile 'em on.

Here’s the first one - This is a False Alarm:

> [@Fix match using TMDB or IMDB ID number](https://forums.plex.tv/t/fix-match-using-tmdb-or-imdb-id-number/540072/12):

> Okay, I have a couple more that aren’t matching from TMDB and they’re movies, [48977](https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/48977-monty-python-s-flying-circus-terry-gilliam-s-personal-best?language=en-US) & [48978](https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/48978-monty-python-s-flying-circus-terry-jones-personal-best?language=en-US). I’m putting these numbers in the title field, with and without the year and still getting nothing for results. [image] [image] Any thoughts on what I’m doing wrong here or why it’s not working?

A proper file name - worked as expected:

```auto
A Movie Library\
Monty Python's Flying Circus - Terry Gilliam's Personal Best (2006).mp4
```

Note:
IF you’re not using a ‘pristine’ file name and structure - you can’t participate in this thread. If you do participate in this thread - you are REQUIRED to post your exact file name and structure via a screen shot.

Using the bare bones name:

```auto
A TV Show Library\
....Katy Keene\
........Season 01\
...........Katy Keene - S01E01.mp4
```

A Natural Match is instant.

This may, or may not contribute to ‘the bug’, but is a data point of sorts. The (YEAR) field when not present in the name at TVDB fails most of the time at my house.

Perhaps when testing - and maybe if a Plex Dance is employed - I really am suspect of those 3 dashes. Yes I know how it’s supposed to work, but if you remove that 3rd dash and it does work with the (YEAR) field - another data point I suppose.

Hold off - I’l try it myself. Mine are test files.

```auto
A TV Show Library\
.......Katy Keene (2020)\
..........Season 01\
.............Katy Keene (2020) - S01E01 - Chapter One Once Upon a Time in New York.mp4
```

Enjoyed no natural match - no match at all - but was in the list.
Stand by…

```auto
A TV Show Library\
.......Katy Keene\
.............Season 01\
................Katy Keene - S01E01 - Chapter One - Once Upon a Time in New York.mp4
```

Enjoys a Natural Match - instantly.
I’m no longer suspect of dash #3…lol - but an unecessary (YEAR) field blows the mission.

as far as I am aware, plex essentially ignores anything after the s##e##, the dash and any episode title is irrelevant as far as plex matching metadata.

Here’s an odd Bird:

I always try the exact names and structu…

I get a match with pristine names, but Plex can’t make up it’s mind which is which when selecting one from Plexweb \<—it goes to the other one.

My brain hurts.

Noughts + Crosses
Yea, anything with a name that dumb is probably going to require a Fix Match - and it did.

```auto
A TV Show Library\
....Noughts + Crosses\
.......Season 01\
..........Noughts + Crosses - S01E01 - Episode 1.mkv
```

No match and nothing in the list until in Search Options I added the “+” that apparently confuses everybody - since it’s basically invisible.

I found that one yesterday and forgot to add it…
good one.

BTW: if it’s not been mentioned - @ChuckPa was speaking with a developer involved in matching and such and the person revealed this ‘engine’ is like Skynet in that it learns… keep fixing match. It might start working before it recruits our kitchen appliances to kill us in our sleep.
