Ditto here.
I’ve tried direct play, direct stream and full transcode, all experience the same behaviour. After about 10 mins both the Plex server and Plexpy report nothing is playing, the event list indicates the session to the Plex server has been closed, but the video still plays.
Any interruption, like stop, pause, forward, etc sees the buffer dots appear and then unresponsive. Have to quit and restart the app on PS3.
Since the last update to .34 I am seeing this issue with all videos I play on my PS3.
Server version 0.9.12.17 on Windows 2012 R2
Videos: makes no difference the format or codec (so far as I can see) has happened on every film or tv show I have played
Playback Method: I have watched DirectPlay, DirectStream and Encoded videos and all have had the same symptom
The issue - at the end of the show (or if I leave the video paused for some time and then resume playback) I get a message “Server Unavailable”
Related notes - I have noticed that the played to position or watched status does not get updated. In one case with a film of 1h28 length when I went back into Plex after restarting it did not show that I had watched any of it. This was the one I paused and crashed part way through - I had watched 48 minutes of the film at that point.
I have also noticed that a few minutes into playback if I look on the Now Playing view on the web app it does not show my PS3 playback. When this situation arises if I click back or stop playback to get back to the menu the Server Unavailable message appears.
Yep, same issue here as well on Windows 10 and PS3.
Glad to see its a widespread thing and not something local to me, because I would assume it will get fixed on its own. Rather than me having to find out why my particular setup is creating this issue.

You just made an excellent summary of the same experience I am having, the only difference is that I’m streaming from latest build running on top of Windows 10.
To the wizards of Plex: need more information? Log files or anything? Would be glad to provide any if needed.
Glad it’s not just me then. Troubleshooting over, as it must be updated related.
Now lets wait on a patch.
Hi all!
I got pretty much the exact same problem you are describing, and it started a couple of days ago.
Got Plex Media Server version 0.9.12.18 running on an iMac i7 with OS X 10.9.5, streaming to a PS4 with the latest updates.
If the coding ninjas of the Plex development team needs any kind of logs, I’ll happily provide it! As it is now, its pretty frustrating having to quit the app after each episode.
I’m getting the same error, ever since a couple days ago… extremely frustrating since I just started paying for PlexPass to use the PS4 app. Media plays until the end, then my O button will not back out and I get to either spend 10 minutes waiting for it to tell me “Server Unavailable” and I can’t select “retry” or “go home”, and “sign out” just locks up the app, or force close the app and reboot. It really sucks having to close the application from the PS menu and reboot after every single media file… especially for $5/month when the free app works flawlessly on the Roku 3 in our bedroom.
Also having the same, thought that it was an issue with my server but apparently not. Running Ubuntu 14.04, Plex 0.9.12.18 using the PS3 app.
I have the exact same issue as listed in many of the posts running latest version of Plex on Windows 10. I agree with others I’ve read it seems we need to wait for Plex to come out with a fix as it works flawlessly on my Xbox 360, Xbox One, Samsung Galaxy Tablet, etc…
I am also having the same problem on both PS3 and PS4. For me the problem seemed to start when I installed the new server patch for Windows (version 2.4.23 running on Windows 10) a couple of days ago. I am also running the latest version of the Playstation apps.
This is becoming VERY frustrating, having to close the plex app and restart it after every single episode, not to mention having to manually set the watched flag on the just viewed episode every time!
As we are paying for this service, and it seems to be rather wide spread, I hope a fix is being worked on as a priority.
Thanks.
I have been having the same problem ever since the 0.9.1218 sever update.
Downgrading back to 0.9.1217 fixes all my issues, which were, not being able to back out to the menu after a media file plays > 20 minutes, continuous playback freezing and not playing next file after choosing random play, having to close and restart the app on the PS4 to play another media file.
Same here on PS3
I am getting the same Server Unavailable message on our PS3 just in the past few days. I am transcoding from our Windows 7 host to PS3 using the app and I can browse and play the first file fine but at the end it shows the 3 dots for a short while (~10 seconds) and then pops up with server unavailable and I have to kill the app and restart it to continue watching.
If I pause for a longer period of time it will start to play the show again and then the same 3 dots will come up with server unavailable and again i have to restart the actual app and then fast forward to where I left off.
I have captured the logs for the end of show event error. Where can I post them for troubleshooting and privacy?
Thanks!
I am also experiencing this.
Something here. Im glad its effecting everyone, and not just me.

That works sometimes i was able to play some videos fine then others froze up again at the end seems like more of a issue on the ps4 side then server side.
I have this problem also
I also have this problem on the PS3.
Can’t wait for the AppleTV App. I just got the new ATV delivered today.
having the same issue since the last Plex app App (ps4) update, hopefully this gets fixed soon
