# Media Management - Delete Folders

I use Plex’s movie and TV streaming similar to a DVR. Content is downloaded, consumed and removed. The issue I am finding is that the method I store the movies and TV shows creates a folder for each movie, then when I watch and delete the move through Plex, the containing folder is left behind, and only the actual movie file is removed.
IE, given this format: \MovieLibraryFolder\Movie A\Movie A.mkv
Deleting Movie A from the interface is only removing the mkv file. Is it possible to remove the Movie A directory with the file?

No. Plex will not remove folders at all.
If I am remembering correctly Plex has stated they have no plans to ever include the ability to delete folders.
I do know that under Windows there are several tools that will walk a directory tree and delete empty directories. Of course those tools are not, as far as I know, able to be integrated into Plex.

That is unfortunate. I use Plex on the movie and TV show side like a DVR, so things change frequently. I will have to figure out a way to script this in BSD to run nightly. I will post what I come up with to help others. Thanks!
