# Metadata for missing episodes

I would like to see a feature that would show the metadata for a missing episode of a series
It would have to be very obvious that there is NO episode to play
Edit: Added "No"

I don't understand the second part. if you dont have the episode how could it play? or do you mean obvious that an episode is missing (even though the metadata is there)?

Mis spoke meant to say " it would have to be obvious that the episode was missing, but still show the meta data on the episode"

I like this. As far as making it obvious that you are missing the episode, it would be very simple to just have it in the list, but italicized or something similar.

So I was thinking just this, and I'm glad I found a topic that already existed...
I've had a think about how it can be done too:
Downloaders like TV Shows 2, or Torrent Episode Downloader search for a show's ID on The TVDB, to help them to decide when to scan for the next episode.
If Plex knew which episode it should have next, by scanning the TVDB, when it received an episode it wasn't expecting, it could do something... an alert, or insert a placeholder clip to say "The next episode in the sequence is missing, mark this episode as watched to skip the missing episode"
Unfortunately, I can't think of an easy way of adding this to the code, because currently Plex doesn't "expect" anything, it just interprets the filename of what has been added to the folder. Perhaps an additional code that runs at the end of the Library Scan that sequence matches all TV Shows so that if it sees a missing show it does something about it.
in pseudo code:
get tv show
get first episode number
next episode number
do until end of list
is this episode number equal to the first episode number +1?
next
if not, copy \Library\missingplaceholder.avi to v\show\showname SXXEYY.avi
next list item
next tv show

placeholders for tv shows would be really awesome. especially with airing dates to show in advance when the next episode would play.
