# Metadata issues between matched and recorded shows

I have been given DVDs of America’s Test Kitchen, which I’ve ripped. When I put the ripped files into my TV directory, Plex finds them correctly, along with the correct episode data. When I record new episodes, it shows up as “America’s Test Kitchen from Cooks Illustrated” with no episode data - it’s the same show! Is there any way to correct this? I’ve seen the same behavior with episodes of the Office recorded off TV vs ripped, as well as Chris Kimball’s Milk Street Kitchen.

Any suggestions?

Recorded shows keep the EPG data which may not always be the same as the data from the servers source agent for library. because it can mess up recordings if different.

That makes sense - Can I reverse it and force the ripped shows to use the same metadata as the DVR?
