# Migrating plex from package center to docker question

i want to move my plex server to docker.
if i dont care about the appdata that i am suppose to copy can i just delete it?
it is over 290gb, my NAs doesnt have the space for the duplicate folders.

Of course. That is the same process as completely uninstalling Plex Media Server from the NAS. You’ll have to re-create the libraries, any custom posters, any shares with friends, etc. on the new PMS installation.
DSM 6: Uninstall Plex Media Server. Then delete the Plex shared folder (or its contents).
DSM 7: Uninstall Plex Media Server. Choose the Erase option.
Before deleting PMS, consider enabling [Sync Watch State & Ratings](https://support.plex.tv/articles/sync-watch-state-and-ratings/) for your account.

I’m not familiar with running Plex in Docker.
However, there is probably a way to point Plex Media Server (in Docker) to the location of a [Plex Data Folder](https://support.plex.tv/articles/202915258-where-is-the-plex-media-server-data-directory-located/) (outside of Docker) the same way you give PMS access to the media files (which also exist outside of Docker).
That would alleviate the need to re-create libraries, etc. from scratch.

If I may suggest?
Why not create the docker definition and have it use the existing PMS data ?
Look at how the existing PlexMediaServer directory is mapped into the docker container structure.
