Server Version#: 4.30.2 Hello everyone. I’m currently running my Plex Media Server on my Synology DS418 and it blows chunks (the hardware is too slow to transcode when I want to see subtitles, for instance). So I’m going to move the server to a Mac Mini that will mount the movie folders that will stay on the Synology. How do I migrate the server? I don’t want to re-add my movies and tags by hand b/c I have hundreds of them. Can the database and settings be migrated over to the Mac Mini but updated to point to the new file location (Which will be the mounted drive?) ---

Macs are very restrictive in how they mount network shares. If you can perfectly emulate the directory structure then you can literally ZIP, copy, and drop the Synology into the Mac. You’ll initially need to create symbolic links to satisfy `/volumeX/sharename` to where it is now mapped on the Mac. You’ll notice PMS uses `Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server` as its structure on Synology. This is because of its MacOS roots (~/Library/Application Support/application\_name) After all that is done, you can Add the new (network mapped) share location; let PMS detect the apparent duplicates; then remove the reference through the symbolic links. ---

So the DB and everything is in the same folder structure so I just zip up the Library folder and I should be good, huh? Cool! ---

That worked beautifully. For anyone else that does this in future, you’ll want to mount the folder you were using on Synology to your Mac under something like /System/Volumes/Data/nas Since you can no longer create files or folders directly in the root (`/`), you’ll want to use `/etc/synthetic.conf` to setup a symlink for you. ---
