Server Version#: 1.41.0.9018-4b74567bc
Player Version#:

Plex is no longer showing additional agents/scanners from Shoko Metadata ([Shoko Metadata | Shoko](https://shokoanime.com/downloads/shoko-metadata/)).

This is a recent behaviour change, the scanners have been working for almost two years.
There are no updates to them.
I noticed issues with Plex failing to scan new entries to my library starting on 20/09/2024.
Further investigation revealed that the agents were no longer being shown within Plex.

Has anyone else faced this issue?

I am also noticing the server version in my Shield is higher than the latest version listed anywhere for Plex Media Server. Perhaps there is a bug in this version.

Here is the only mention of my server version I could find.

Seems to be bugfix version and may have broken somethings as well.

> Way back in 2018 [we announced the retirement of some features](https://forums.plex.tv/t/discontinuation-of-plugins-watch-later-recommended-and-cloud-sync/312312) which included support for plug-ins for integrating third-party audio/video channels. We also noted that this wouldn’t affect scanners and agents which rely on some of the same plug-ins infrastructure, but as this framework is built on-top of a now unsupported version of Python, we are announcing today that we’ll be removing support for plug-ins entirely going forward. This process will begin with only Android-based Plex Media Server…

This post mentions removing support for any 3rd party agents.
Essentially, for Shield, this was pushed out and auto-updated user’s libraries breaking their setups. Nice work.

Plex has stated numerous times over the last 4+ years that legacy agents are being dropped. Its not a surprise its actually happening now.

That’s not a cop out because in the same 4+ years they have not provided any workaround or even the functionality for people to extend their now preferred approach

Tons of software exist in the world, and when something is being deprecated they provide an upgrade path before it happens.
