[Plex Documentation](https://support.plex.tv/articles/) → [Your Media](https://support.plex.tv/articles/categories/your-media/) → [Local Media Assets - Movies](https://support.plex.tv/articles/200220677-local-media-assets-movies/)

Plex cannot provide cover art for many movies due to takedown requests by the rights holders ([The Digital Millennium Copyright Act](https://www.copyright.gov/dmca/))

A quick test is to check the movie at [watch.plex.tv](http://watch.plex.tv). If there is no poster, then Plex cannot provide one. Example: [For a Few Dollars More](https://watch.plex.tv/movie/for-a-few-dollars-more)

For such movies you can provide your own cover art (ex: Downloaded from IMDB/TMDB/TVDB or other such sites.). See documentation linked above.
