# Missing "star" or "actors" tag field

It’s been bugging me for a while but is there a particular reason why “Stars” or “Actors” tag filed is not available in the front end user interface? This is available on the backend but if I have to manually enter “actors” tag info, there is no way to do it through the front end.
Is there any particular reason why it is hidden from the end user?

There’s a feature suggestion to allow manually editing the cast of a movie / show. Currently the most straightforward way to do that yourself is to edit the metadata at its source, e.g. on The Movie Database.
As for why that is I can only guess. Keep in mind that there’s tons of same-named actors… so what you see in the frontend is just the label while underneath its a full data record pointing to the correct actor, its pictures etc…

I understand what you saying but what’s the point of having a front end? Do we really want everyone, including your granny, to roll their sleeves up to do such a simple and mundane thing as updating the cast of the movie? If Microsoft can do it on the file level in their windows view properties, I am sure there is enough talent at Plex to do the same in their product. It is just common sense.

I suppose the idea is that you don’t have to edit the cast in the first place.
