# MKV Files, Captions, Missing?

Plex Web 4.140.0  
Apple tvOS: 18.1  
Plex AppleTV: 8.41 (9404)  
Plex for Mac: 1.105.2.269-12a32491  
Synology NAS: ds418play running DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 7 0 - Intel Celeron J3355

I have ripped my BluRay disks using MakeMKV into MKV files and included all the captions. However, I am not able to access the closed captions for the shows that I have ripped.

If I access the MKV file in VLC it shows the captions as being available, but PLEX does not and wants me to search for them listing other shows. I get the same behavior on both plex

How can I get the captions from the MKV to play in Plex?

I did run the Plex Create Optimized Versions process when I added the shows to the Plex Server so that the playback would not be choppy while transcoding.
