I would like to target certain items at certain users, such that they are prioritized on that user’s home screen. Primary use case is requested content. I add content to my server all the time, which can push requested content way down the Recently Added hubs, making it harder to find for the user.
I work around this by putting a user’s requested content in a separate library that can be pinned to that user’s home screen. The problem with this is that multiple libraries are harder to navigate and harder to manage.
What I would like to do is use labels to designate who requested an item, and surface that in a smart collection on the home screen where it won’t be buried. Currently that would require creating and applying a label for each user, creating a smart collection for each label, and publishing all these smart collections to home screens. The problem with this is that every user would have to see and scroll past every other user’s hub, because users can’t choose which hubs to show/hide, or even the order in which they are displayed. All a user can do is pin or unpin a library.
If I understand your suggestion correctly, this might already be discussed in another thread. If so, I suggest you comment/vote in that thread in order to avoid distracting votes.
Currently, you can only “broadcast” published collections to all users. This suggestion asks for an option to share a specific collection to a specific user’s home screen – this would allow you to create per-user collections (e.g. as a smart collection based on labels) which could then only be published to that user.
Upon reflection, I see the similarity. Weird, since I was fully aware of that thread. In fact, I think I’d already voted for it. I’ll comment over there.
