# Movie editions without split

Hello,
So I recently updated some movies with “editions” to replace existing movies and Plex created them as new content. Which makes them appear as new movies, I do not want this behaviour.
Is there a way to prevent the split on a library for “editions”, rather than changing the file names to remove the edition tag. I’d like to keep the edition tags, I just don’t want them to appear as new content.

At this time, editions are treated as separate entities in your library. There’s a feature suggestion to group editions as a single movie entry in a library (e.g. listing the different editions on the movie details page)

You could create a collection for the two different versions of the movie and manage them that way.

Thats irritating. There are feature requests going back 10+ years, so my fath is low if there is no means for it now. Looks like I need to mess around with renaming file names now, which isn’t very user friendly. Wonderful.
