Movie files are freezing when subtitles are enabled

Hello,

First of all, great job on plex and plexconnect.

My problem is the following:

When I use my ATV3 for playing a movie file and I enable subtitles (internal or external) the movie file freezes up and keeps buffering. When I disable subtitles everything works just fine with no freezing or buffering. Turning down quality does not help, also changing movie (MKV and DIVX) format does not help

Plex is running on a Thecus N4200PRO NAS and plexconnect is also running on a Thecus N4200PRO nas.

I have switched plexconnect over to my late 2012 imac, but the same result.

Has anyone came across this problem. It looks like some decode or transcode issue...

grtz...

Thecus N4200PRO = Intel® Atom™ Processor D525 @ 1.8Ghz

Not the best specs for transcoding, PMS suggests a spec of an Intel Core 2 Duo processor @ 2.4 GHz for transcoding HD video. My guess would be that without subs the file is being direct played with just a remux but once subs are enabled the file then needs to be transcoded and most NAS boxes just don't have the power.

You could test this by installing PMS on the iMac and then see if the file works.

However without knowing the specs for the file I'm just guessing :)

Hello Roidy,

I will try that and let you know...

Ok, that was the problem. The Thecus is not powerfull enough. On the imac it works like a charme, Tnx m8

First of all, sorry for resurecting this thread...

Does anyone (including Stefan if he gets this message know how to install plexconnect on a 4200 series?

Thanks

EDIT: I have PMS running on the NAS but can't see how I can install plex connect :S

In case anyone else comes across this thread whilst searching for the same answer: I managed to find my own solution after trawling a few other forums...

The main thing you really want to look at is this thread:
http://forum.thecus.com/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=7026

Which provides links to *.mod formats of plexconnect and the two prerequisite modules.

It's not explained super well, but you DO need to configure some of the settings such as the correct IP for the PMS and the location of trailers.pem on your NAS.

In a note that is actually related to the OP, I am running a N4200ECO (which I believe is the model below the PRO) and I had a TV show with subs running perfectly via plexconnect.

Perhaps the  code has become more efficient and/or the support from the prerequisite modules lends more support than it used to?!?!

Either way, if the OP sees this it might be worth trying your NAS as your server again.

Once again, sorry for resurrecting this thread
