Server Version#: 3.2.0
Player Version#: 4.87.2

So, I have been googling a bit and it seems like my problem is fairly common, and easy to fix. Tho it might be me who is a bit slow, but I can’t seem to figure it out. But my Movies-folder is empty, even tho I have several movies added.

I run Plex Server on a Home Assistant-machine. I know, you might frown now, but the machine itself is my own gaming rigg, so it has resources. So, unless HA is the issue, hold back your personal thoughts 😉

I can access the player on (made up IP) [http://192.168.1.1](http://192.168.1.1) and everything works. I add Z: and \192.168.1.2\movies, wich is the storage on the Synology DS120j..and nothing shows up in the Movies-folder in Plex.

What can be the issue? What can I supply to you to get this up and running?

This FAQ shows in detail how to do what those instructions state. When might you need to perform these steps? When upgrading, changing permissions from Plex to PlexMediaServer is overlook…

OK, done. Still nothing. Is the attached image, the correct way to add that shared folder to my library?

You don’t type the path in

You pick the path from the choices below, wherever the drive resides

Instead of \\192.168.1.1\moves it should look more like

/share/videos/movies/

If you can’t find the drive in the supplied menu below that means you still have some kind of permission issues and Plex isn’t able to see where you have the movies folder

In DSM, the storage is called /volume1/filmer, but that doesn’t work. Do I add it with another path, and how do I find that out?

Just to clarify… this is about accessing your media on the Synology from your Plex server which is hosted on a Linux machine?

If so, your issue is probably more about properly mounting the Syno share on your Linux server.
Depending on what sharing protocol you’re using, there’s different guides on how to properly achieve that:

1. for SMB/CIFS shares → [Linux Tips - #4 by ChuckPa](https://forums.plex.tv/t/linux-tips/276247/4)
2. for NFS shares → [Linux Tips - #5 by ChuckPa](https://forums.plex.tv/t/linux-tips/276247/5)

To add to Tom,

The Syno is Linux. If you’re using Linux then use NFS. SMB does not support multiple usernames (yours and Plex) on one mount point.
