Hi there,

My collection contains many foreign movies which are using this pattern:

Localized title (’‘Original title’’) - Year (Format).extension

It seems Plex will recognize some movies with the Plex agent but many will not be recognized. If I edit them manually and remove the part after the localized title to search using the Plex agent, the movie will be recognized and the meta data will be updated.
Is there any way to set up a naming pattern and tell Plex to only take the localized title and ignore the rest? This would be possible by using a regular expression if Plex supports defining naming patterns. Is this possible at all?

Another possibility I see is to add nfo files to my movies but to my understaning Plex won’t read these.

You cannot define custom naming patterns in Plex.

Plex will always require
`Movie Title (year) - optional stuff.ext`
Where ‘Movie Title’ can be either the original or the localized title.

If you want to play it safe, go with
`Localized Title (year) - [original title_quality].ext`

Or you could resort to placing each movie into its own, individual subfolder.
That way, you can very likely leave the movie filename as-it-is. But the title of the _folder_ must adhere to the above pattern.
The basic minimum for a folder name is `Movie Title (year)`.

[Filebot](https://forums.plex.tv/t/plex-naming-schemes-for-filebot/121538/1 "Filebot") can help you to achieve that almost automatically, if you look into a custom renaming format string.
