# Moving Plex media server from one pc to another

I have plex setup on my personal gaming pc and I bought another cheaper machine to set as a Plex media server only. Is there a way to move the Plex server to another pc with all of the libraries in tack? I really don’t want to start from scratch and reload all my movies and tv series.

- Make sure that the media files are to be found in the exact same location as they were before. (same drive letter or file server address, folder name, file name)
- Shut down plex server on both the old and the new computer before starting the copy process.
- After restoring the registry file on the new computer, never ever start Plex server on the old machine again.
