Yes there is.

1. Stop and uninstall + Erase the DSM 7 Plex app if you’ve already installed it.

2. Create shared folder `Plex` (capitalization is important)

3. In it, create

```auto
Library/
  Application Support/
```

1. Before you move your data, on the Windows server, turn OFF **ALL** automatic updating actions. (The media locations are different as seen by the NAS and we don’t want to lose your metadata)

2. Stop Plex

3. ZIP the `Plex Media Server` folder

4. Copy that to the Plex shared folder

5. Unzip it.

6. Find the `Plex Media Server` folder you just got from the unZIP

7. Move it under `Application Support`

8. The resultant structure should be `Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/your-server-metadata-here`

9. With everything moved, Install the DSM 7 app from [Plex.tv/downloads](http://Plex.tv/downloads) – Don’t use the one from Package Center (too old and doesn’t work with DSM 7 final release).

10. It will make you change a lot of permissions. Do as it instructs – don’t miss anything.

11. Depending on how much data you’re bringing over, it can take a few minutes to several hours or even days. Do NOT interrupt it. It doesn’t get stuck / hang. It is a very in-depth process to import.

12. When it’s finally done, you won’t find any media. – not a problem.

13. EDIT each Library section’s folder list - ADD the new locations. DO NOT remove anything yet.

14. As you edit each section and add media folder locations, it will start scanning.
(If the folder appears blank – Control Panel - Shared folders - Permissions - grant “system internal user” PlexMediaServer permission to read)

Here is the documentation which shows everything.

This is a **Detail Rich** process. Take your time to understand it BEFORE you start else you’ll end up repeating it. 🙂
