# Moving select TV-Shows to new folder

I am doing some reorganization of my media library and I have the need to relocate specific shows from one folder to another. I added the new folder to the media library. I then simply moved the show in question to the new location and re-scanned the library. Most everything seems right but I notice plex is rescanning for intros on the show I moved. My watched/unwatched status stayed the same so it surprises me it is rescanning. Can anyone explain that and/or is there something in this procedure I missed?

If the file path is changing, the actual files may have changed as well.  
Which could mean that the old intro scan may be off. That’s why a new scan is triggered.

Is that likely when they are getting “cut and pasted” to a new folder on the same volume?

Can you confirm there is nothing more the to proper procedure than what I did? Assuming that is the case I will not worry about it.

Plex cannot know that, as it happens outside of its control.

I’d _copy_ the files first,  
then scan,  
then verify they’ve been recognised correctly, (as _duplicates_ of the existing files)  
then delete the source files,  
scan again,  
then empty trash in Plex.
