Much faster (hopefully), smaller (mostly) and better PMS builds preview (1.15.0.573-123756e9a)

Just stopped SABnzbd and VPN and deinstalled unuseful things. I‘m running PMS again, seeing how it goes. It takes time to crash… I tried to transcode a movie from 1080p to 720p here are the stats:
Seems to be more a CPU-bottleneck than RAM.

You are both CPU spiking and Volume (I/O) maxing.

In this case, since you’re not out of memory, it’s not swapping. This NAS cannot (disk you have in it) isn’t fast enough for the load) and it is the nature of transcoding to spike at startup. The ARMv8 can stream up to 20 Mbps… IF the media is pre-processed correctly. It can’t be given ‘any old stuff’.

Ok, the NAS is down now… I didn’t do anything no transcoding whatsoever. I’m no longer able to connect to it, maybe in a couple of hours. I’ll try but as previously stated I’m in holidays far away from my server. I only had Plex running nothing else in the background, no SABnzbd or VPN all shut down for testing. Regarding the hard drive inside the DS118 it’s a Barracuda NAS Drive which is 3 months old and in my testing easily capable of drawing 180 MB/s. The NAS was on idle while crashing so I really don’t know why 1 GB RAM and a 64 Bit ARMv8 shouldn’t be enough for idling PMS, and if it isn’t I don’t even know why we are doing beta tests then…

When you can access it again…

  1. Control Panel - Shared Folders - Edit the Plex share - Permissions tab - Giive yourself R/W permission
  2. File Station - Plex share - Drill into Library ------ Plex Media Server
  3. Right-click Logs and Compress to Logs.zip
  4. Attach the ZIP

I will see what is happening

I’m trying it, but it’s really hard to get connection. At this point in time it’s not responding at all. Even via a VPN on my rpi it’s impossible to connect. I’m continuing to try and connect via DS Finder then requesting a restart so I can use the Synology’s interface again.

Whish me luck… :smirk:

Hello again! I got access and downloaded the logs as you described. I also got a mail stating that it lost control 10:39:34 +02:00.

Logs.zip (1.8 MB)

Plex doesn’t send such notifications.

Do you mean DSM lost connectivity?

Exactly, like the screenshots in my previous posts.

I am :crossed_fingers: going to test the final dev build for ARMv8 tonight.

If it works ok and memory consumption is back to normal, i’ll see what can be done about getting it out here for test.

Hello,

I’ have a QNAP TS-832X runing with QTS firware 4.3.4.0695
Until now I’m running this version (Alpha) : PlexMediaServer-1.13.6.176-dd1845234-aarch64.qpkg
Downloaded here : QNAP [aarch64 / ARMv8]

I wanted to updated to this version : PlexMediaServer-1.13.6.283-9e747cb50-aarch64.qpkg
Downloaded on this topic with this link : ARMv8 (TS-x28 Series)

And unfortunately Plex don’t start …

When I’m lunching it manually from terminal I have this error :

[/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer] # ./plex.sh start
Starting Plex Media Server...
./Plex Media Server: error while loading shared libraries: libsoci_sqlite3.so: ELF load command alignment not page-aligned

I probably don’t take the good package
Can you help me ?

Ps : When I role-back to PlexMediaServer-1.13.6.176-dd1845234-aarch64.qpkg all is OK

I am investigating now.
I have a TS-128A sitting next to me now. This was tested prior to release using 4.3.4

I will advise shortly.

Something has changed.

Please stay with the Alpha version for the TS-x28 line for now

@ChuckPa Ok i’m waiting.

/ ! \ I don’t have a TS-X28 but TS-X32X NAS (TS-832X)

I’m linux sysadmin, if i can help you for testing or if you need more log i’m at your service

Thanks but even I am waiting for the build team on this one.
I’ve done all I can. They are doing their ‘thing’.

I think they’re planning on making an update available in the next few days (:crossed_fingers:)
I will get details in my next staff meeting.

Hello,

I use plex media server version 1.13.6.283-9e747cb50 on Synology DS218play and the customer a sony Bravia KD-49X8505B it is still impossible to watch a video regardless of the quality without a continuous bag, the server indicates that its processor works at 100% and the ram at 75%

Thank you for the feedback,

Dim.

Hi,

I’m not being able to play some 4K video files because Plex is always transcoding it.
But I’m 100% sure that I’ve already played those same 4K video files before, with this beta version.

I’m using Plex 1.13.6.283-9e747cb50 on Synology DS218 and trying to reproduce the files on iPhone X or LG TV (webos).

Can someone help me?
Thanks!

These files have HDAudio as first audio track ? Try to select an other audio track and try again.

The files are recorded from iPhone X or GoPro. It is either mono or stereo audio. So it should not be that.
