I just have a quick question about naming conventions for external subtitle files with multiple editions of a movie that wasn’t covered in the multiple editions article. Using Blade Runner as an example, do I need to specify the edition of the film in the external subtitle file name, or is it enough for it to just be the in same folder? Like so:

- Blade Runner (1982) {edition-Final Cut}
– Blade Runner (1982) {edition-Final Cut}.mp4
– Blade Runner (1982) {edition-Final Cut}.en.srt

OR

- Blade Runner (1982) {edition-Final Cut}
– Blade Runner (1982) {edition-Final Cut}.mp4
– Blade Runner (1982).en.srt

Thanks in advance.

The base name of your local external subtitle files must always match the base name of your movie… so it’s absolutely the 1st option!

movie file base name:

```nohighlight
Blade Runner (1982) {edition-Final Cut}
```

Result:

```nohighlight
<base name>.<language code>.<file extension>
Blade Runner (1982) {edition-Final Cut}.eng.srt
```

That’s what I thought! Just wanted to make sure.

Thank you!
