How can I name TV episode files which don’t have contiguous episodes? For example, one of the Night Gallery files contains episodes 13 and 15, but not 14. Is there a way to name those files such that Plex understands what’s contained or do I need to split the file?

You can name files S5E13-15 but that will end up including episode 14. Typically this comes up without skipping an episode so I don’t think there’s a way to handle that without splitting the video file itself.

Some info about that naming option is in this article in case it helps:

Split the file into individual episodes. Plex will then handle things correctly.

> [@\[HowTo\]: splitting multi-episode files with MKVtoolnix GUI](https://forums.plex.tv/t/howto-splitting-multi-episode-files-with-mkvtoolnix-gui/108396):

> The purpose of this HowTo is to split videofiles which contain more than one episode of a tv show into single-episode files. So they show up individually within plex, can be played individually and don’t produce any of the weird things that [multi-episode files](https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200220687-Naming-Series-Season-Based-TV-Shows "multi-episode files") are plagued with. The tool used is [MKVtoolnixGUI](https://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/ "MKVtoolnixGUI") it is freely available for all major PC operating systems. Therefore the container format of the output files will be MKV. The input format can be a multitude of containers like AVI, MP4…

Maybe the “DVD ordering” suits your files better?
