Multiple video format in same folder. Agent resets title (to meta-title from file)

Hi,

PMS 1.1.3.2700 (Win10)
PMS (DVR beta) 1.2.0.2716 (QNAP)

Structure:
\Movies
\Movies\movie folder
\Movies\movie folder\movie title.mkv
\Movies\movie folder\movie title.mp4
\Movies\movie folder\movie title.da.srt

I’m converting my movies to MP4, with a direct copy of video and audio (ffmpeg). This means that everything is copied like chapters, meta data etc. I’m also keeping the original MKV file in the folder.

The movies are correctly indexed in the Movie library (Plex Movie agent). Every time i copy the converted MP4 (with exactly the same name and meta data) to the folder, the movie is refreshed in the library (detects 2 versions) - and the title is changed with the title from the meta title in the MP4 or MKV. The existing MKV file has the exact same meta title in the file.

When i do a “Fix incorrect match”, the title doesn’t get changed. It looks like Plex “thinks” the title is locked (which is isn’t). It will only use the title from the meta title (in the file).

If I change the title in the edit window to ex. “foobar” (and remove orange locks), and do a “Fix incorrect match”. The title will not change from “foobar”. If I enter blank in “Title” and “Sort Title” (remove locks) and do a “Fix incorrect match” the meta title returns.

The only way I can get the correct title, is to manually enter it in the edit window with locks active.

Anyone else having this problem?

I think the issue here is your mp4 has a bad title in it. Check which agent your library is using (go to the library, settings and under advanced after scanner you should see agent.

Now go to settings, server, agents and pick your agent. Now look where "Local Media Assets (movies) is in the list and make sure it’s at the bottom (I actually untick mine).

This should sort it for you!

OMG! Was it that simple. Thank you so much! ^:)^ Was driving me crazy …

Just reinstalled PMS. “Local Media Assets” was at the top and checked.
