My Bug List

Now that I have had time to mess with the Xbone app, I feel like its time to list the bugs I have found. Please note however, that some of these have been mentioned in other threads but I feel needs attention.

Server Specs: i7-3770 Quad-Core @ 3.4Ghz with 16GB DDR3 1600 RAM and Revodrive 480GB (~1800Mb-r/~1700Mb-w) PCI-e SSD as scratch disk.

I have managed 6 streams, both on and off network to a variety of devices without issues.

Bug: Video starts to pause every few seconds as if buffering.

Situation: 1080p content in MKV container with 5.1 DTS over 1gb LAN (confirmed and tested full speed). Video will play fine through half of most movies. All the while my CPU will be at %100. Then, after one stutter, it will never stop stuttering every few seconds. Size of MKV does not matter (quality of encode) as it acts the same with a 2GB file or 12GB file in any quality (but still 1080p). CPU always %100. I have done extensive testing to insure my network has no issues.

Workaround: I have to stop the movie, and restart it, picking up where I left off. Usually fixes it for the rest of the movie.

Bug: Starting video over from saved spot makes it loop the first few seconds, sometimes multiple times

Situation: 1080p content in MKV container with 5.1 DTS over 1gb LAN. After restarting video, it will play for 3-5 seconds, then start over. Sometimes it will only do it once, but a few times it has done it 3+ times at random durations.

Workaround: Deal with it.

Bug: Error playing video, "Retry". Maybe it says Error connecting, can't remember exactly.

Situation: 1080p content in MKV container with 5.1 DTS over 1gb LAN. If I pause the video for longer than a minute or so, after I click play again, it will change screens and tell me there was an error. It gives me two options, Retry or return to home. This happens most when I add a video and refresh my server library (not the client) during the pause.

Workaround: Click retry and it starts back with no issues (aside from the looping)

Bug: No recently added on main screen

Situation: At the main screen, I would not see any recently added for any library. My settings for each library had this enabled and worked on any other device.

Workaround: I had my "On Deck" option set to "0". After setting it to "1 Week" they showed up for every library. I don't like/use the On Deck feature, so it would be nice to fix this.

Bug: Xbox one holds on the previously used video file after played.

Situation: Any file, if I stop the video in the middle of the file will still hold that file as being used on my computer. This disallows me to change or delete it.

Workaround: Play another file.

Bug: Playback freezes with everlasting spinning wheel at end of video.

Situation: Any video format or quality. After I finish watching anything from a TV show to a full blown movie, I seem to have about a %50 chance that it will hang at the end and display a never-ending spinning wheel.

Workaround: Hit the back button on my remote to return to library.

I will update this if I remember some more. I know I have had some misc minor annoyances, but these are the ones that carry the most weight.

I can confirm i experience this behaviour for 2 of the bugs mentioned.

Wow, thanks for the awesome report! We've already identified (and fixed) a number of playback issues when reaching the end of the video, which will be available in the next release. I've also reproduce the issue you mentioned to do with On Deck being set to "0" weeks, and that it affects movie and other content. This is a server issue for which i've reported it to the team. This should be fixed in a future version of Plex Media Server (hopefully soon).

As for the others, i'm trying to reproduce to see how we can resolve them. Thanks for including so much detail!

This bug seems best re-created with longer pause times, try 5min, 7min+

and thank you, I want to try an give the whole picture so they can be addressed rather than just being weightless complaints.
