Forgive me if this has been requested somewhere else but I was unable to find it. Let me know if this is something that can be accomplished. I love Plex and have used it for years and no other product compares to ease of use. One feature that I have been hoping would get added for a while now is a favorites list.
So when I use services that have a large amount of media like Netflix, one of the things that helps me filter down to what I frequently watch or what I am currently watching is a list that I can add/remove things from. In Netflix this is called âMy Listâ and it changes depending on what user logged in (ex. my wife has a different âMy Listâ than I do).
On Deck is close but I want to be able to edit this on the fly. I have a large library and sometimes I miss shows that have started their new season, or forget to check out a show that my wife or family has been telling me to check out for a time. Having the ability to add shows and movies to a user based list would allow me to fix this problem.
So the feature should allow me to:
Add movies or TV shows to a user editable list
Display the tv show and movies along with their watched status (including how many unwatched episodes are in the show)
Emby obviously has this and its the only thing getting me to think a light jumping ships. Seriously, I cannot imagine itâs hard to work this into the clients. This should have been part of the platform since day 1.
I had to create a new âIn Queue to seeâ Series library pointing to a directory where I have my current series I am actually watching. When I finish seeing that season or series, I move the files to the âofficialâ Series libraryâŠ
As you can see this is a pain in the ass to keep managing. I think this kind of feature should be easy for development !
Yes, adding a Favorite (e.g. click on a heart next to any media item) function would be super useful. As thepeewee69 said, otherwise itâs really hard to manage large libraries. The playlist function does not serve that purpose. If could tag Favorite movies and music then could filter by those items and organize content much more effectively. This functionality is present in many other media and photo manager platforms, Plex needs to add it too.
This is a must - how is this not a thing? People suggest playlists but that is terribly ineffective. You cant sort a playlist, like jeez.
It may be meaningful to create similar functionality to set a status of âTo Watchâ that lives outside of On Deck so to speak. Essentially I could mark a movie âTo Watchâ or a TV Series or episode in a tv series âTo Watchâ it would than show me in my âListsâ per se, which could be stylized and controled essentially like collections.
Or if collections is the method to use, add a simple method to Tag movies or TV shows (think same interface as adding to Playlist from the 3 dots) â Quick Tag: choose from predefined tags, or add new.
I agree. I much prefer Plex over Emby but the one major thing that is making me think about moving to Emby is the lack of a favorites option. The playlist is berally OK with movies but with TV shows it is useless as it is adding all the episodes in a list⊠As soon as you add a few shows the list becomes unmanageable. Please Plex listen to us!!
Favorites. Or next to watch or what ever you call it.
This is the one feature I was so surprised not to find I thought I made a mistake and itâs hidden somewhere- but no itâs just not there.
It should be a row in the home screen or even an own home screen.
Basically like a okay list but it shows TV series as series not as episodes (that should be an option anyways cause who wants single episodes in his playlist in the first place)
Please make that happen as everyone is no used to Netflix who made an outstanding job updating their interface- that is the best way to discover new contentâŠ
Wow ! 3 years passed and such a basic featured not added? How do you guys organize yourselfs? The playlist, as it is, doesnât solve it, when Add tv shows to a playlist it show the list o episodes, it show be just the show it self with a âlinkâ to the showâŠ
How hard can it be to make a favourites feature with 2 big sections (movies and tv shows)âŠ
I just came from Emby, I actually like Plex design better, but not having this Favourites feature will be hard for me to adaptâŠ
It would be wonderful if such a useful feature could be implemented. Especially because of how used to it everybody has gotten because it has already been a basic feature in all streaming and media organizing platforms i know of.
I would love that Favorite feature for Music too. I tend to go back to my favorite albums and having them in a playlist is not a great workaround. In Audirvana I just âheartâ an Album or Song and I have quick access via âFavoritesâ. Same concept could apply to pictures.
It would be highly appreciated to get this feature. Like others said before, this should be a standard feature, same as already working smoothly on Emby.
I, too, would love to see this feature added to Plex. It is so handy to have in Emby and to be able to make the choice for your Favorites to come up for access.
This should be as a next priority feature to be added, so different users could mark their own things as favorites and be able to see these at the beginning of the list.
