Server Version#: 1.32.5.7349
I’m have a fairly large collection of old time radio files from various sources which I want to put up on my server. Unfortunately, the files are all named differently and I’m trying to come upon a standard which would work both with Plex and with (almost) any other player on PC, mobile devices or hosted servers. So far, I have primarily used a structure similar to my TV & Music files by setting the shows each in their own folder then listing as (Show Name) - Episode # - (Date) - Title.mp3 (i.e Rouge’s Gallery - Ep016 - (1945-10-04) - Blondes Prefer Gentlemen.mp3). Wonder how others try to organize their media as there isn’t a single source for info like IMDB or TVDB for information and I know that I may have to eventually get into the metadata on each file to set the appropriate information for various players to work correctly.
Any and All suggestions appreciated
Just a suggestion on how I would do it: Based on the link below the programs do not have season or episode numbers and are listed by air date. I think using a Music Library is the most flexible for audio files. When you create the library set all the advanced settings to local/local tags/metadata. You could also set the sorting by name. I’d also use the TV naming convention just because it is an established method and will aid sorting by name and a familiar way to organize.
So using your example from the link below:
Rogues-Gallery (Folder Name under root)
Rogues-Gallery - S01E02 - Blondes Prefer Gentlemen (1945-10-18).mp3 (File Name. Only one season so S01 and this is the second on the listing (by date) so E02.
These names could be sorted. View the library by albums (folder) or by tracks (name)
