(the recently announced HDR-SDR feature will not be part of the preview DSM 7 package)

Synology announced that DSM 7 will be available on December 8, tomorrow!
DSM 7 Beta
Want to install it as soon as possible, provided that I can stil use Plex. Hope a Plex beta or preview is also imminent

Just installed DSM 7 and confirmed that the Plex package shows "the package version installed is incompatible with your DSM"
good news: with the Beta no error message depending on wrong user previliges will occur anymore. bad news: it shows an error due to invalid file format

I updated to beta and can confirm plex still works using the workaround from the preview version of 7. But ONLY if you have had plex installed before.
Hey guys we will have links live soon with the DSM7 compatible version of PMS to allow you upgrade and migrate. When Chuck is around he can make the forum preview thread live which contains info on how to upgrade/migrate.

Hey @Skyfay, depends on how tolerant you are on bugs and unexpected failures. Beta versions are likely to have failures, and eventually result in data loss or broken features. Usually it’s suitable for tech enthusiasts which want to get their hands dirty to fix stuff. If you want to join the beta, please be advised: things can go wrong - but it’s the beta testers that ensure all regular customers will have a smooth transition.
@Skyfay From what I’ve read the Preview was already pretty stable, but I agree with @TulioLazarini Beta’s are no official build and there’s always a change you lose you’re data. Don’t even try the beta unless you have a backup of all you’re data! Can’t stress that enough

I’ve just rebuilt my system with 48TB Raid 5 and copied all the films onto the disks few days ago.
Now I currently have no backup of the films except for the raid and I was afraid that something would happen.
Normally I like to test betas. I always do that at Apple.
But in this case i’m not sure…

Thank you very much for your effort! I want to update PMS with DSM7 on a Synology 1621+. Its an AMD Ryzen Prozessor. Which Download-Link I have to choose, because I’m not sure in this case.
