Netgear RN204 looking for servers

Hi,
Thats first time when i’ve tried to install Plex Media Server on my Netgear RN204 (armv7 device).
After first run, it went to login page, so i’ve linked my Google account, and that’s it - no more settings. Now i’ve got dashboard which is looking for server all the time - no way to switch it to server or something, there is no server settings button, etc.
Tried uninstall Plex, deleted all related files from my Netgear device, installed it again from package from your web but it is still same - goes straight as client looking for server…
Any clues how to sort it out? It should work as server, i wish to stream films and pictures from my NAS to other devices…

EDIT: just attached logs

logss.zip (90.1 KB)

Any clues? I really want to get Plex Media Server working…

Still not working.
I’ve searched in google and this forum and only clue i’ve got, there is some problem with my NAS IP - it is connected directly to main router in network and it have public IP address from 91...* range, one of dns is 8.8.8.8 and 2 more are OpenDNS cached on servers, 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
Could it be a problem?

I assume you installed the PMS ARMv7 (RN2xx Series).? What version of PMS did you install? Did you install the PMS app that comes with your NAS and then upgrade to the latest version or did you manually install the latest version from scratch?
Have you tried creating a Plex account and sign in using that?

I’ve installed latest available PMS for rn2xx, dont remember numbers now. But before i’ve tried original version from apps available on my NAS and it was absolutely same.
Yes, ive created account, logged in. Later i thought maybe i’ve screwed up something, so i’ve removed everything from nas, including config files, installed everything once again, created new account, and all the same, server is looking for servers…

Where are you tying to connect to the PMS from? What app/program are you using?

It is looking for servers on my server so I dont get your question…

Are you using a browser from your laptop/computer? What browser? Is it connected to the same network as the NAS with PMS?
Have you been into the NAS admin and make sure the necessary services are active?

As i mentioned before, it is connected to core of network, so NAS have public ip directly, so there is no way to connect locally
Browsers i’ve checked 3 different, Chrome, FF and Edge, every time after installing from scratch - no difference, from my PC of course.
In nas what necessary services do you mean? All works except PMS - samba, ftp, clouds, etc., everything is okay.

Open your browser on your computer and log into your router. Find the item that lists attached devices and see what the IP of your readyNAS is. Once you have that open a new window on your browser and in the URL bar type that IP address. a login box will appear. If you haven’t changed the password it will be the default admin/password. Once the readyNAS Admin loads, click on the Apps on the top bar and all your installed apps should be listed including PMS. Make sure it is on.
Click on System and on the bar below should be Services. Click on that. I only have PMS installed but all the services except NFS, FTP, iTunes, RSync, SNMP, Antivirus and File Search are turned On.

BTW If you have local access to the NAS blocked (not sure how you did that except through the router) but if you have then you need to go into PMS settings and enable Remote Access but then the only way to connect to PMS is via a separate network eg mobile network using a browser and address of Plex.tv/web.

Sorry but I’m no expert in PMS but here all my connections are local except for my sons who don’t live at home and stream stuff off my NAS. I don’t have much idea when it comes to PMS with no local access.

I think you still dont understad my set up…
Nas is located in Poland, in my last company where I worked. It is connected directly to core switch in network, with public ip address filled directly into nas, there is no routers, no firewalls, no Nat, no nothing, it is more like business solution so I can access it only using that public ip address.
On this nas, pms supposed to work as server, but for no reason it is acting like client, just looking for servers. Pms appears on apps list, process is also running when I check from terminal, I can access web interface of it but like I said before, when I log in there it is looking for servers. Even after installed from scratch there is no options to select folders to share or anything, after first login it just goes to looking for servers as in any client on any device.
And I’m accessing it always from other networks, so let’s say from outside, because of situation as i’ve mentioned above - it is connected directly to internet and only my nas uses this public ip address, there is no local network, no local access.

On my nas all protocols from your list except antivirus are turned on and working.

Is “Remote Access” turned on in the PMS settings?

It is not, because it is not working as a server so there is no option to turn on remote access…

Then without remote access enabled there is no way to access PMS no doubt why you get the error.

But how do i turn on remote access if it starts as client instead of server and there is no option to select remote access on it? lol

Other guy, from claimpms script tried to help me too, i’ve managed to start tunneling and try from my pc as i am locally connected to server but still, looking for servers, even after reinstalling, so i think it can be some internal problem in PMS which does not really support public IP addresses, just forwarding&nat…

Yes it seems like it. Have you tried to contact Plex Support direct to see if they have a solution?

To be honest i couldn’t find any direct contact to Plex support, everywhere only links to forum…

I think it MIGHT be that you are logging in with a google account that has no admin privileges and so you have no access to those settings in PMS??? Just a thought…

Nah, i’ve created normal Plex account, using e-mail. Not using fb/google details to login…Tried also with other account and was same. Everytime delete app, settings and install from scratch…
