Network problem? Buffering w/ larger files on very good local network

Server version: 1.13.8.5395

Client version: 3.7.0 (beta) for Tizen 3.0 - also tried on the last stable release.

OS: Windows 10

I just hit a dead end and don’t know what do anymore.

I’m having constant problems streaming large(ish) files from my PLEX server to my Samsung Q6F Smart TV.

All files are always being direct played (checked via tautulli and the original plex server “webapp”).

To summarize the problem: files with bitrate larger than 20mbps somestimes buffer.

Both the computer with win10+plex server and the TV are connected via 5ghz wifi, both with excellent signal (really close to the router), I can download files at maximum speed on my PC (10MB/s, 100Mbps connection) easily, I’ve also ran multiple internet “speedtests” and always achieve 100Mbps download and upload. I’ve also ran the same tests on my TV “web browser” and again, the speeds reach constantly 100Mbps. In my understading if I can achieve these speeds from the internet on both devices (server and cliente), streaming (in my LAN) 20, 30 and even 50Mbps bitrate files should be a breeze, no?

The problem is: when streaming any large files I have trouble. It started with really big 70Mbps (avg. bitrate) HEVC+10 bits REMUXes, I then tried decreasing the file size and today I have faced problem with a “mere” 27Mbps avg. bitrate file… I understand that the bitrate varies a lot: but how can a stream of a 20gb/2.5 hour film stutter if I can constantly get 100Mbps up/down internet speed on both devices (server/client)??

I tried using the (windows) resource manager to monitor the wireless network speeds when these issues appear and the speeds varies between 20-30Mbps - when I run a random internet speedtest or download files I get CONSTANT 100Mbps.

I don’t know what’s happening but both my devices can easily download/upload up to 100Mbps and I can’t stream a 25Mbps bitrate file between them.

I’ve tried PLEX and serviio DLNA and the stutter appears in the same films and in the same parts using both services.

The last movie I’ve tested I watched for over 1 hour and only then the buffering started (and it did not stop). Other movies (larger ones) start buffering right away.

My router is a TP-LINK archer c7 (it’s supposed to be a decent router). I don’t have any other network activity when doing these tests.

Sorry about the long post but I’ve searched the whole internet and reddit for a reply and tried everything - I’ve disabled all firewalls, disabled “secure connections” on plex, installed the plex beta TV app. E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G and it will not stream properly anything over 20Mbps.

I’ve also tried running a cable between the PC and the router and the problem persists.

Does anyone have any insight?
