First off, I have really enjoyed Plex for many years. What a system to be proud of. Recently though, the new UI changes on all platforms (Roku, Android, GoogleTV, iOS, etc) is awful for those running their own Plex server content. Absolutely not intuitive to navigate. PITA and stupid design with the Libraries listed as these bubbles. Please bring back the old UI with the nav on the left side. This is just abhorrent!
I would be happy with the new app if:
- I could download TV Shows, synced to played status, auto-downloading as watched status changes.
- Watching your own media locally did not require buffering.
- The new app would be able to handle dropped connections to either WiFi or Cellular connections.
Ie. I would be happy if features we had in the old App had been brought into the new App.
ive been testing every version since preview including testflight and in that entire time i have been unable to download a single video, fails instantly everytime. some versions transcode but always fail the download.
Do you have a custom server url? There has been a bug where the New Experience was unable to download unless the custom server url had the port in the url listing on the server. Ie https://plex.example.com would not work but https://plex.example.com:443 would work. This has been fixed in the latest 2025.26 beta.
I dont use custom url. did just test 2025.26 and its now saying connection error which makes no sense since im connected to my server otherwise i wouldnt be able to access it and stream from it
Latest update: Version 2025.26.0.
7 updates, 3 months since first report, issue is still there and hasn’t been fixed yet.
How is this being ignored by the dev team?
I don’t get why this and some other things are not acknowledged or seemingly worked on.
Come on it can’t take over 8 month for fixing this EAC 7.1 Audio issue.
I don’t get it why it, takes, nearly a year for working on the Apple TV App?
You know what’s funny?
It was working fine before the app rewrite thing happened.
To be honest, I don’t mind if they need more time to fix things. But at least acknowledge the bug? Or heck, give a visual feedback? I work as a fullstack dev and it’s absolutely idiotic to not give any visual feedback / error message / popups when ■■■■ hits the fan in any kind of code block.
Infinite loader of death is just a dumb concept.
Plex, you have literely ruwend someone’s life with this terrible re-write.
Do you realize that people with dementia where using your application? You cannot learn them new things!!! My mother who used to use plex, now can no longer use the application
Its so sad that you do not take your clients serious. Plex, what you have done is insane. Thank you for destroying the last stable thing my mother had in her life before she dies. The abillity to watch the old plex, was one of the last things she had. It has now become impossible for her to use the app.
Thank you for giving your clients the middle finger. You deserve to go bankrupt on the mess you made.
Details and general app performance is now greatly improved, however the app is still basically nonfunctional when casting due to the inability to select versions of files to watch, as it still plays on the local device instead of the casting device.
- iOS App 2025.28.0
- PMS 1.42.2.10156
- iOS 26.0.1
No improvements has been made for my known issues. Movie Library still does not load, ANSI encoded srt subtitles does not work and app has been localized just for a few languages. These all are regression compared to 8.45 version of iOS application.
and guess what, using latest testflight build i still cant download a single bloody file.
been testing this since preview and not once have i been able to get a single file to download, when are you going to fix this.
I’m able to download files without issue. Can you provide more detail?
I’m on 2025.28.0.
Just a friendly reminder. I know no one from the team absolutely cares about this ■■■■ so it’s probably all for nothing.
The fact that I cannot download the next 1/5/10 unwatched episodes in a series completely baffles me. My only option is to download individually or an entire season… but even then, they are managed as single episodes on my phone…
Wait a minute… You have to actually select one of the Libraries that actually has at least one item that has been added to a given Playlist, Tap “Recommended”, and then scroll down to "Recent Playlists” to actually find your Playlist? Really??? Who can remember which Libraries have an item in your Playlist? I have 20+ Movie Libraries.
What the ??? This is incredibly horrible user experience.
Playlists, which can include content from multiple different Libraries, should be a top-level item in the UI.
I can still see my Playlists on the Windows app and on the Web Site at least in the list of Libraries. Is this functionality going to be ripped out of these apps too?
Just waiting for one of the Plex acolytes to respond that “you’re doing it wrong - you should never have that many libraries”.
You’re doing it wrong; you should never have that many libraries
.
That’s more or less a joke. I know why some folks have many libraries. But I also strongly believe they don’t necessarily need to have that many, if they’d take advantage of some of the features available in Plex to organize libraries (yes, I’m talking about collections, specifically smart ones).
Collections do not meet my needs for organization, and there’s a reason Plex doesn’t limit us to one of each type of library in the UI. This argument is old and tired.
People do like to comment without knowing all the facts.
