Literally the only reason I upgraded my Apple TV and can’t believe this still hasn’t been implemented after eight months!
I too am hoping HDR10+ support is added. I’m shocked it’s taking this long to add the feature. Rather disappointing that it hasn’t been added after so long

Well don’t hold your breath. Plex on Apple TV can’t even do Dolby Vision yet beyond Profile 5
That’s probably unlikely to happen due to the legal/licensing side of things.
HDR10+ is unlikely to happen? I thought HDR10+ is an open standard that’s royalty free? So why would licensing be involved? I guess this means I might have to switch to Infuse which is frustrating since I’ve got a life time plex pass and would have to pay for a lifetime infuse license.

HDR10+ is possible for Plex to implement, but as to if/when they do, it’s very much unknown.

Yeah understood.
The issue is more with Plex forcing the Apple TV into Dolby Vision mode regardless of the fact that with profile 7 & 8 it’s only playing HDR (with no option to turn it off).
But also with tvOS 17 most profile 8 will be supported natively apparently. So if Plex ever incorporate this great, if not also great. But for the love of god they at least need to give us an option to turn “Fake DV” off.
My suspicion is that Profile 8 will be treated like Profile 5 is now, and switch the old player (Apple’s AV Player), and Profile 7 will continue to do fake DV, at least for a while. But at this point, your guess is as good as mine

I’ve learnt not to hold my breath in regards to updates, but just chiming in to say I’m also hoping for HDR10+ support. Hopefully soon!
I am also waiting for this. Frustrating to have to use another app for some titles.
Unfortunately Plex took so long to add this… Plex don’t even support the new Apple TV control gestures!
So, I decided to canceled my signature right now…
It can’t even do that technically. The built in player is doing that when you use the old player setting.
Plex player on apple devices is a running joke at this point.

And at this point I just give up.
The laziness in releases notes is astounding.
In the past, if changes were behind the scenes and not user facing then we were at least told that.
Plus either not a single thing has changed with the new audio player since its epic fail launch on tvOS (and launch and withdrawal on iOS) or again Plex can’t be bothered communicating.
Granted that after the redundancies we did get 24 hours of attention from someone other than DaveBinnM but that was the end of that.
I think I’m done.
Infuse is improving leaps and bounds with usability. Probably no need to keep native Plex installed on my devices.

You should be able to set this server site or just make it max for everyone and let the users figure it out, not the server owner who suffers and has to reach out.

My comment was more about duplicate release notes on two releases.
