# No subtitles while bitrate limited

Server Version#: 1.42.1.10060

I have a bitrate limit set for remote streams. When I start a stream that cannot direct play and is forced to transcode due to the bitrate limit, subtitles are not displayed. The subtitle format does not matter, none of them work (SRT, PGS, ASS).

Toggling subtitles on and off or switching to a different language has no effect. However, if I manually switch to a lower quality setting, subtitles work again. Switching back to “Original Quality” causes them to stop working again.

This happens on Android TV (10.30.4) and iOS (2025.23.0). On macOS and the Web Player, subtitles work as expected.
