From last update (6.13.2) videos freezes up every 5-10 minutes of playing, altough audio and subtitles continues to play. Weird...
Plex app on Shield is unusable for me now. Anyone else expiriencing this?

Also, from last 2 updates, News video clips do not play anymore. News dashboard shows, but vides do not play...

I noticed that today also on the Fire TV. The audio never skips a beat but the video just freezes for a few seconds.

This is happening on the Roku 4 as well

#4

Happening to me as well. Casting to the Shield is working (Cast to Shield itself, not casting to Plex app on the Shield), though more of my library has to be transcoded going this route.

This started happening for me as well. Used it last night, everything was fine. Started up a show today and it freezes every 5-10 minutes, just updated today running version 6.13.2.3439. I run my Plex server from the Shield with 2 external hard drives. Was watching on the Shield as well. Is there any way to rollback an update? Only see uninstall all updates.

#6

I am seeing the same thing as well on my Shield. Thankfully my TV has Plex as well and I was able to switch over to that to finish watching the show.

#7

Still running my plex server from the Nvidia Shield, but started watching via my Xbox One S. No Freezing after a full episode watching on the Xbox.

Just to chime in, my Shield is experiencing the same problem under 6.13.2. I’ve fallen back to my AppleTV for now. Strangely, it is having issues too with no audio at the start of playback. Fortunately, if I pause the video and play again the sound comes back. It’s a pain, but it works.

Same here (V. 6.13.2 on ShieldTV) playing files from my Synology - Plex Server. Picture freezes every 5-10 Minutes ... Audio is still working. After 30-60 seconds Picture plays again. It's the Client not the Server having problems here. Maybe it's the new buildin Player (ExoPlayer V2)?

#10

Same problem here. Plex player on Shield, version 6.13.2.3439. sigh

If you are able to side load the APK here is the link to the previous version from Release announcement

Hi all! Sorry to hear you're experiencing problems with the app.

In order to investigate it, could you post some app logs? In order to grab them, you can follow https://support.plex.tv/articles/201573117-android-android-tv-fire-tv-logs/

Thanks

Thanks, but it says 'App not installed, app appears to be damaged'... is this the Android TV / Shield version?

You have to uninstall the newer release to install an older one. Can you post logs first?

I have the log file, captured immediately after the video freeze happened (audio kept playing).

Can I post the log here, or is its contents private and is a PM better?

Also: uninstalling plex seems to be impossible, since it is a system app, correct?

/edit
After the freeze, plex is unusable; constant stuttering, even the audio.

You can PM them to myself or @jesusmc

Yes you just uninstall the updates taking it back to base at which point you can then update via sideload to the previous release.

+1
also using the Shield TV 2017. The video stutters and freezes, but the audio continues when the picture freezes

Used the Network Logging function, and watched an episode with the stuttering
