Did you ever get a solution to this on the Shield? - This seems like a really similar, if not the same, issue to mine with Live streaming tv… here: Crashing/Freezing on Ad breaks and Dolby surround switching (on Shield as player and HDHomerun)
I get freezing and crashing when going into movies, like you say… and particularly when they have Dolby 5.1 transmissions… but I also get it just going in and out of some commercial breaks…
I don’t get it when using the HomeRun app and don’t know if it’s something to do with the bitstream output of the Shield…? I’ve yet to try something like a firestick to see if the problem is the same with plex player on that… Apple TV tends not to show the same problem, but then it doesn’t bitstream, so when using something other than the DVR/Live tv, obviously there’s no more atmos, and it’s nice to have it all being plated through the same box…
I can only assume that it’s something to do with Plex and the Shield… but any thoughts’ welcome. - and you are right, recent updates have made no difference.
