Official new subtitle renderer feedback thread

transcoded media?

transcoded media?

No, the problem with out of sync subs is only if the movie is direct Streams/ direct played from server. (If I change plex connect sub settings to PMS the server will transcode and I have no problem with aug of sync subs)

I was not talking about the PMS being used to burn in subtitles in the transcoding step...

I would like to know, if the issue appears always with "resume" or only on media that needs transcoding (which can still use the PlexConnect subtitle renderer).

What kind of media did you replay when finding the issue: container, video/audio codec, subtitle format?

Remark: I tested with "aTV native data" (mp4, h264, aac) but could find the issue yet...

ok, sorry..

This is one example of video file with about 2-3 sec delay:

I have the exact same problem as described above: the exact same mkv+subs combo will play back fine on another Mac (Plex Home Theater), and resuming and/or fast forwarding isn't a problem. However, resuming the same mkv+subs on my 3rd gen Apple TV always results in the subs going out of sync. Plex server is running on a Mac Mini 2010, so should be fast enough to transcode just fine (playing back on the iOS Plex app, for example, results in no problems with subtitle sync). The HD files in question aren't particularly bitrate heavy.

Anyone who can confirm that this bug has been acknowledged?

>>Anyone who can confirm that this bug has been acknowledged?

Yep.

>>Anyone who can confirm that this bug has been acknowledged?
Yep.

Same pb for me with resume and for/backward.

By the way, I noticed that the last subtitle is displayed forever, i.e long after the last dialogue has occured
Seen on mkv and srt files (all)
Not a big deal, but wanted to let it know

Bruno

>>I noticed that the last subtitle is displayed forever

Fixed.

Hello. I have my PSM at Nas Synology 713.

I dont find the forum for this.

Sorry form stupidity.

Thanks

Baa.

Can you say me how update this file, please???

What do you mean with "update this file"?

I would guess bwynants pulled it all together into the Synology install package...

Sorry for my mistake. I thought I had to update the subtitle file. Sorry. I have already understood. I simply reinstalled Plex version Connect to 0-3-6. I had an older version.
Well, now.
When I put the subtitle (srt) file inserted into the movie can not be played well. It stutters. I tried with other movies and nothing. Besides my Nas CPU goes up to 98% all the time.
My my apple tv settings are:
TRancoder ACtion: Auto
Transcoder Quality: 1080 p 40 Mbps (I've tried to lose this quality but not with this quality mkv without subtitles, no problem.)
Remote Bitrate: 720 p 3.0 Mbps
Caption Renderer: IOS, PMS
Size of the subtitles: 75%
Amplificacar Sound: 100%

What else can be?
Thanks for answering.

With the subtitle renderer forced to "iOS, PMS" the following will happen:

- MP4 with embedded subtitles will be played by your aTV without PMS activity (with or without subs displayed)

- everything else, eg. MP4 with external subtitle, MKV that need a transcoder swap, with subtitle to show, will force PMS to do a full transcode to burn the text to the video stream. That for sure will crank up your NAS. :-)

You should keep the Subtitle Renderer Setting at Auto - that way PlexConnect has a chance to have aTV deal with external subtitles (currently SRT only), removing the need for the full transcode on the NAS. Why did you change the Setting to "iOS, PMS"? Did you have new issues with the PlexConnect subtitle feature (well, I know some... :-)?

Y have proved to keep the subtitle renderer at "Auto" and dont work, Baa. The movie transcode on my Nas and the movie dont see.

The file I play is  mkv with internal subtitles srt. Dont work.

My NAS is a Ds711+.

Have you got an idea Why dont play movies mkv with subtitule incrusted??

Thanks for your job, Baa.

>>The file I play is  mkv with internal subtitles srt. Dont work.

PlexConnect can only catch _external_ SRT files. Embedded files (in MKV or wherever) can only be handled by PMS, which lead to a full transcode - as explained above.

I would like to get a log (loglevel=High, subtitle renderer=Auto) of...

- starting PlexConnect

- browsing to the movie

- selecting the subtitle

- staring replay

This might help in understanding, why your movie isn't be played in the first place.

Now, i understand you.

Thank you very much.

You have helped me.

Thanks.

Hi. I have a mp4 file with VOBSUB that has a constant ~2 second lag. Works fine in other iOS clients. I can share the file privately if needed.

According to your MediaInfo, the subs are embedded in the file - which means, it is played completely within iOS. Nothing for PlexConnect to do, not even the subtitles.

Just to make sure, you enable the subs while playing the movie with press&hold on the select button, right?

I just watched The Monuments Men and I have to thank you again for greenlighting this subtitles project, I would have missed so much in this movie. PlexConnect is amazing!!!!
