You need to go into the Shield’s Storage settings and move the internal data back to the Shield. Assuming you have enough room, otherwise this will get complicated. ---

in storage and reset but cant see how to do that. the usb which is internal storage - message comes up sd disconnected and then the shield plex goes off line ---

Once the data is back and PMS is working correctly, you can remove the usb drive and pug in the hard drive. Leave the hard drive as external storage. Please note that there are some limitations when using a hard drive. See [https://support.plex.tv/articles/220391808-media-storage-options-for-nvidia-shield/](https://support.plex.tv/articles/220391808-media-storage-options-for-nvidia-shield/) for details. You can then use Plex Web to add the hard drive to the location where you library reads its data from. ---

It was working when you plugged the usb drive back in, right? Were you then able to move the data back to the Shield itself? ---

If I switch the nvidia shield off and back on the plex server then shows on line but quickly goes off line. ---
