# One-time link for temporary access

I would appreciate it if Plex introduced a feature that allows users to generate a temporary access link, valid for a configurable period of 1–7 days. This link could be used to share access to a specific file, playlist, or similar content with another person.

The goal would be to provide simple, preferably browser-based access, where the recipient can directly stream the content without needing a Plex account or complex setup.

This has been requested before… and rejected the same amount of times. The gist being: allowing such use case will bring their service awfully close to file sharing or pirating sites.
