# OnePlus Pad 3 transcodes AV1 files

As I mentioned in the title, my OnePlus tablet with a Qualcomm Snapdragon Elite processor cannot correctly view AV1 format files from PLEX, as it does not play them natively and forces transcoding. However, if I transfer the same file locally to the tablet and play it with a player such as VLC, the movie/series plays correctly without interruptions or loading times.
The tablet is updated to the latest version and running Android 16. My PLEX server runs on a TerraMaster NAS (also updated to the latest version).
Is the error caused by PLEX or incompatibility between the device and the app?

“The Latest” Plex version you would need is actually the beta –
> 1.43.0.10346-fc911a729
It has the new transcoder (FFMPEG 6.1) in it.
The CPU in your F4-223 can decode AV1 in hardware then encode in H.264/H.265
Can you please upgrade PMS,
Confirm [DEBUG logging](https://support.plex.tv/articles/201643703-reporting-issues-with-plex-media-server/#toc-1) is enabled,
Try the playback again.
Download the server’s logs (ZIP file) and attach here if you’re not successful.

Hey, thanks for the reply.
I switched to the beta channel and updated my PMS to version 1.43.0.10346.
I tried playing it again on my tablet, and it still transcodes the file instead of streaming it directly. I find it curious that a TLC TV I have with Android TV manages to stream the same file directly, even though its CPU is less “powerful” than the Snapdragon Elite.
If I play the AV1 file from the tablet in VLC, it plays normally, that is, without buffering or transcoding, and I can play it smoothly.
I have also noticed that this happens on my Pixel 10 Pro mobile device. When running AV1, it cannot do so in direct transmission and transcodes it.
Could this be a problem with Plex for Android (Mobile) systems? Or is it a problem with my NAS? Although I doubt it is the NAS because it plays them fine on the TV.
