Server Version#:1.32.4.7164 (Synology DS218+)
Player Version#: 4.108.0 (Plex Web)

Hi, there, I will keep this brief as I want to sleep, but my Mum just went to watch a 4K movie on her tablet and it was buffering like crazy. (I updated to the most recent version for my DSM7 as soon as it released, but I am listing the latest beta version as I tried to use it to fix this issue to no avail.) I am also listing the Web version as at the time of posting, I cannot give the details on the tablet, but the web version is having the same issues.

Essentially, any video it seems, no matter the resolution, when it needs to transcode runs into a few issues;

1. The server performance is floor to ceiling when a video starts playing
2. The server did not have this issue in the three years I’ve owned it
3. It doesn’t matter local or remote, it always hits beyond the limit and buffers constantly.

I have tried to stop other programs on the server from running, I’ve tried watching on other platforms. Nothing. I’ll post two images, first is one of my server running the show Chucky in 1080p with Direct Play, and then the second is the same episode with hardware transcoding.

revert to an older version of PMS or use the engineer build found in this thread.

Where can I find the previous version, as it is not listed on the website ([https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/](https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/))

Also, where would I find that engineer build?

Thanks 🙂

6999 should work.

> The new release will be ‘cut’ on Friday (9-Jun-2023). I’ll be able to grab an alpha-test copy at that point. It will then be in test for 10 days, scheduled PlexPass on 19-Jun-2023 if there’s nothing requiring rework. This build will be scrutinized (I’ll be sharing with folks so we know we have HW transcoding solid again… it did get a lot of attention since last build)

Does this mean that 19th of June will be a release that will fix this issue. Should I downgrade my server until the issue gets fixed?

If you want hardware accelerated transcoding, fall back to 1.32.1.6999. Alternately, wait until the 19th and hope there are no delays.

Synology does not permit direct fallbacks. You must uninstall the current version first. Use the “Uninstall Only” option. Then install 1.32.1.6999.

You may see a “503 system maintenance” message when Plex starts after the fallback. This is normal. It is Plex performing database maintenance. Wait a few minutes then try again.

Where can I download Version “1.32.1.6999”?
