# Playback Error: Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error

keep getting this error; "Conversion Failed. The transcoder exited due to an error.I have followed and attempted to try every trick and fix in the book and I have still not had any luck getting this to work.

Any time I try to play a video using a subtitle, it crashes. If I open the subtitles in the middle of a video, it will crash immediately. If I set a subtitle track before starting the video, it wont play at all. My plex server is up to date with the latest version and I have tried everything I can find to get it to work.

Fixed it!

All I had to do was set the Transcoder Directory to H:\

I originally had it set to “H:” without the slash.
