# Playback not working off network

Server Version#: 1.25.6.5577  
Player Version#:7.29  
I’ve recently redone my plex server, moving from windows to Ubuntu. After several attempts i think i finally have it setup and working…somewhat.

If i have my iphone on my home network i can watch anything. Movies, dvr, stored tv shows, etc. Once i leave my network the app still shows everything, but will not playback any of it. it eventually throws up a “couldn’t create playback session” message at the bottom of the screen. Soon as i switch back the home network it will start playing.

i have remote access turned on and the port manually set to 32400, with a forward on my router setup accordingly. I haven’t yet installed the firewall on the ubuntu server and have verified that its not running.

Any thoughts?

Not sure if this will apply to you, but when I switch from wifi to mobile on my android phone I have to make sure to fully close the plex app and reopen it. If I don’t see the Plex splash logo when it starts up, it won’t play video, but I can still navigate the library sometimes.
