I have the same issue. Same version numbers. When I try to play any video file, the following lines appear in “Plex Media Server.log” infinit times.

Apr 25, 2020 18:07:17.000 [0x7f41d5ffb700] DEBUG - We're going to try to auto-select a subtitle.
Apr 25, 2020 18:07:17.000 [0x7f41d5ffb700] DEBUG - Audio Stream: 156667, Subtitle Stream: -1
Apr 25, 2020 18:07:17.001 [0x7f41d5ffb700] DEBUG - We're going to try to auto-select an audio stream for account 1.
Apr 25, 2020 18:07:17.001 [0x7f41d5ffb700] DEBUG - Selecting best audio stream for part ID 50189 (autoselect: 1 language: en)
Apr 25, 2020 18:07:17.001 [0x7f41d5ffb700] DEBUG - We're going to try to auto-select a subtitle.

Previously the setting value for “Prefered audio tracks in” was “Hungarian”. With that setting I got the same debug lines in log except the it says (autoselect: 1 language: hu)

I have tried to play videos with and without subtitles, videos with only hungarian or english audio tracks, currently I have no content with multiple audio tracks to try.

The funny thing that when I use the Mi Box as a ChromeCast receiver and start content from my phone, it plays normally.

Do you need any other logs, or is there any way We can help you to fix this?

Hi everyone,
I’m having the same problem. Two days ago I’ve updated my Xiaomi Mi Box and since then the Plex app stopped playing any videos. I only see the error showed in the first post.

Plex on PC and iPhone works like a charm, problem occurs only on the Android TV app.

I’ve tried:

  • restarting the server
  • restarting the Mi Box
  • reinstalling Plex App and clearing its data
  • clearing bundles + optimizing database + emptying trash

Nothing helps.

Hi, having the same issue. Other devices work but not the mi box which is my main viewing source :frowning:

tried all of the above as well as making sure my plex server was up to date and no luck. Am looking into installing an earlier version of plex onto the mi box maybe? not sure if possible

Since the error message is very generic, you don’t have necessarily all the same issues.
First, try this:

This recently came up as an issue after people updated their Mi Box S

@Coxeroni
Thank you for this. Unfortunately, my ISP router has only few basic DNS settings. I can’t find anything even remotely related to DNS rebinding.
Setting my Plex not to require secure connections didn’t help.

I’m switching to Emby for now.

Have you tried white listing your device from authentication?

Same problem here. After upgrade MiBox S to the newest Android 9 few days ago, with server 1.19.2.2737-b69929dab.
After switching player to old version in advanced settings - playback is ok.
But I would like to use new player.

Same problem here. Same versions.

After update of the box to Android 9, the new player does not work with same error message.

Old player works if used without subtitles.

Does not work with subtitles.

Please help.

Hi all,
Same issue here on other Android devices, happens on WiFi but not on 4G and yes Plex do know about the issue it’s a rebinding issue with the player. This physically needs to be fixed as there are now more users having this issue and not just Fire Stick and MiBox users… Sorry all for the little rant…

Just a quick update, I have it working, but it’s a messy workaround.
Turn off Secure Connections in Network on PMS and Tablets and Android Devices (Except phones for some reason) play all files without any issues.
I hope this workaround works for MiBox users too, till a possible fix is found??
