# Playing from HDD

Hello,

&nbsp;

I'm pretty new to PLEX. But sofar I've seen you need to have the Plex Server running on a 2nd machine to play your media on the Pi, which means there is no way to play directly media from the Pi itself, is this correct?

Correct. For this usage you should actually consider using XBMC or raspbmc on a raspberry
