“User Acceptance Testing”
If anyone is stumbling across this post, still unable to figure out why the Roku client refuses to display the unified “recently added movies” and “recently added tv” libraries, try this:
Even if you’ve reset your home screen customizations multiple times, switched users, removed, reinstalled, and re-registered the app; bounced your Roku and your server multiple times, and specifically chose from the available libraries those you want “pinned”… if you’ve done all of that and it still refuses to show up (assuming you have the checkbox ticked in server settings),
- Go into each library you have pinned and remove the pin. Remove every pinned library until you have literally nothing pinned at all.
- Exit the app and restart your Roku
- Launch the Roku Plex app (It might take up to a minute for the app to respond to your remote control. It might appear completely frozen for a bit. be patient.)
- Head to the “more” section of your preferred server and begin pinning libraries, each time exiting out of the more section to confirm that the “recently added movies” unified row has returned.
It might be known behavior with the Roku caching the settings of some apps, but removing, reinstalling, and re-selecting the libraries you want pinned from your preferred server should work to show the “recently added” row. It might be bugged. I’d go as far as to say it is bugged since I mucked with this more hours than I’d like to admit.
This worked for me. May / May not work for you.
