# Plex App For Android: Background Audio stream for all content

On my ipad, if I start watching a movie, or a channel stream, I can click the Home button (the hardware circle) and I go back to the IOS home screen. If i swipe up, I get access to the audio controls where I can click “Play” and have plex continue to stream the audio portion of my show/movie/channel stream, while I do something else on my ipad.

On my Nexus 9, I can start playing music from Plex, switch to another app and the music continues to play. If I’m playing video content, and switch to another app, plex stops playing the content. If I return to Plex, I see the video’s title card, rather than the playback screen.

I’d like the ability to stream the audio portion of whatever plex is playing in the background using the Plex Android app.

If you have root, you can use airAudio, that might work if the Plex app doesn’t shut down. See [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.airaudio&hl=de](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.airaudio&hl=de)
