my setup:
server: asustor nas (as6704t)
client: NVIDIA Shield tv pro 2019
TV: LG C3
speaker: Sonos Arc with Sonos Sub Gen.3 and 2x Sonos Era 300 (as rear speaker)
Sonos Arc is connected to the Nvidia Shield directly with an Hdfury Arcana
The Sonos Arc doesn’t support DTS-HD or DTS:X (only „normal“ DTS), therefore I have to play those formats via LPCM.
When I play a DTS-HD 7.1 file (or a DTS:X file) it plays as LPCM 5.1 (sonos app shows multichannel 5.1 pcm) but since I have a 7.1.4 system with the 2 era 300s as rear speaker It should be playing as LPCM 7.1. I cannot get that to work with any setting on the shield or the plex app. When I activate the DTS support setting at the shield, the 7.1 DTS-HD file will play as the 5.1 DTS core.
When I play the same file through Kodi (with the Plex addon) I get the desired LPCM 7.1. In Kodi you can manually set the number of channels for your audio setup and I set it to 7.1 of course. TrueHD Atmos files play normal btw.
Can someone else confirm that the Plex app on the shield can’t play LPCM 7.1? Is this a bug?
