# Plex detecting two different series as one

That didn’t have an effect because Plex already associated the files and identified them as those already existing/matched items from before.

If you want to force the shows being properly recognized/matched you’ll need to drop them from Plex first (=[Plex Dance](https://forums.plex.tv/t/the-plex-dance/197064)):

1. move the 2 folders outside of the folder linked to your Plex anime library
2. in Plex: `Scan library files` for that library and wait for it to complete
3. in Plex: `Empty Trash` and `Clean Bundles`
4. return the folders so they’re directly placed in the library folder (`/volume1/Media/Shows (Anime)/`)
5. in Plex: `Scan library files`
