I finally found time to clean up my music library, but what a headache! Renaming/retagging with third-party software and updating/cleaing/emptying trash you name it … the library is stuck. Tags don’t update properly in Plex library and rescanned albums, or unmatched/rematched… doesn’t really help.
It’s pretty annoying reading about basic problems that have been around for years and are still not being addressed at the same time Plex brags of bloating its software with other less interesting new features.
I really wish the Plex developers would fix basic functionality before adding new!
Anyway, I thought I was smart by moving the folder out (to a physically different drive), unmatching the album, emptied the trash in Plex, then on all of the shared folders on my NAS, then I cleaned the bundles for all libraries, emptied the trash, optimized the database, emptied the trash yet again, rescanned the library and then the album … ITS STILL THERE!!!
Of course it says that all of the songs in the album are unavailable, but I want it gone “automatically” (because the initial reason for this is to FORCE IT TO UPDATE CHANGED TAGS and not actually remove anything.
I have several thousand songs, so how does Plex expect one to be able to maintain and update anything if the database will just keep the original information?
PS: I have also tried scanning using both with and without the use of embedded tags without any success as well.
TEST: I created a new library and added one album.
RESULT: Everything was updated correctly. So now it’s shown incorrectly in one library (with all other songs), but correctly in a library on its own.
Although the test-scanario showed that deleting a library and creating it again from scratch worked, that can hardly be the solution every time you want to update anything within the library!!
